NAGAMO COMPOSER INTENSIVE

Indigenous media needs Indigenous music

Nagamo Music is committed to bringing the best of Indigenous music to the forefront of media and storytelling. Featured in films, TV, documentaries, advertising, and more, Nagamo Music has helped bring new sonic representation to the stories being told today.

To further develop this vision, we're proud to announce the inaugural Nagamo Composer Intensive. This week-long program will provide an opportunity for music producers to hone their skills in the art of scoring to picture.

This program will be hands-on and collaborative. Participants will work alongside seasoned composers, and an Indigenous director, to score original music for a short film. Along the way, they will develop their understanding of themes and instrumentation, pacing and tone, underscore vs driving picture, DAW workflow, technical requirements, navigating director relationships and how to best serve the story on screen.

Designed to mimic a typical, fast-paced production schedule, this intensive will challenge and strengthen participants while giving them tools and tips to excel in the industry.

This program is open to Indigenous (First Nations, Metis, and Inuit) composers/music producers across Canada. The event will take place in Toronto, ON between Sept. 14 - 18th, 2026.

Travel and lodging costs will be covered. Per diem and honorarium will be provided.
